Blog Post 1/24/21!~

안녕!~ 2 questions will be answered for the last part of this weeks blog post.

MVD Entertainment, Brain Damage Films, Acort International, Darkside Releasing. MVD Entertainment would be a good match for my film because, they have a commitment to the interest of everyone, musicians, filmmakers, record labels, etc.

My film will be exhibited as 3 friends in high school, who is being haunted by a doll the main protagonist picked up in a trash can. And going through scary incidents that take the lives of 2 of the friends leaving only 1 of them.

 안녕~ I'll be answering 2 questions below.

My choice of production company will make more people have higher expectations for my film because, The Safran company's involvement in so many popular well-known horror films.

I will show the production company my mindset when making the film, as well as the theme or what you will learn from it, and what the summarized version of what the movie is. I will "sell" my film as something really scary, and something that you can watch all the time and never get bored of. My film will have diversity, so all types of people (race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, etc.) will all be able to enjoy the movie. And not fret over stereotypes and poor representation.

안녕!~ 오늘 몇 가지 질문에 대답하겠습니다.

The Safran Company, Vertigo Entertainment, Lionsgate, Ghost House Pictures, and etc. I would choose The Safran Company because, they were involved in the making of Annabelle, and my film will also be one based on a haunted doll. They also were involved in the making of many other popular horror films that are my personal favorites.

A large studio production company because, they pay attention to small details that make a film whole, and have experience when it comes to distribution, financing, and quality work.

안녕!~ Today I will be answering a few questions.

The main protagonist discovers a creepy doll in a trash can. The protagonist is somehow drawn to the doll and takes it out. They show it to their friends, and they suggest one of them take it home. The 2nd friend takes it home, even though they were creeped out by it. After a couple days of inactivity from the doll, the 2nd friend starts to notice strange things happening. Things were missing, misplaced, destroyed, and other weird occurrences. The 2nd friend tries to get the 1st friend to take the doll home with them, but 1st friend refused. After a couple weeks of creepy things happening, the 2nd friend set up spy cams around her house to catch action of what was happening. Somehow all of the cameras stopped working, so nothing was recorded. 2nd friend dies after she accidently finds the doll trying to kill her dog. Main protagonist and 1st friend mourn the death of their friend, they naturally got closer due to their beloved friends death. The doll was passed down to the 1st friend as memory, and incidents start happening at their house too. This time a lot faster and creepier. 1st friend tells main how 2nd friend kept telling her to take the doll and that it was haunted before she passed. They both came to the conclusion, kill the doll so nothing like that will happen again. The both of them prepared for the worst to happen. Some other stuff happen and some more stuff happen. They were able to subdue the doll after coming close to near death experiences. As they were trying to kill the doll, the 1st friend lost their life in the midst of chaos. Main protagonist is all alone now, with painful memories thinking if she hadn't picked up that doll from the trash her friends wouldn't have died. Some years pass and she's gotten somewhat passed it, she has a job, a boyfriend, and is living her life normally. At the end of film opening it will show the doll coming back to life, and going back in the same very trash can being picked up by another person, showing it to their friends.

The brand for my film is that friendship is extremely important, and no one should take it lightly. I am striving towards showing people of my age and older that having a true friend stand by you will make your life better. I want to achieve the sense of a close bond between 3 friends as they go through frightening situations with a haunted doll.

Chucky, Annabelle, etc. They are typically financed from investors, or by companies that invest money into a film they want to be produced under their name.

Blog Post 1/17!~

I will be answering 5 questions today~ Please enjoy, and I hope you learn from this or correct me on my mistakes so I can learn from them. :)

The kind of movie I want to make is a horror film. I want the film to center around a haunted doll and 3 friends who attend high school, going through problems and scary incidents together and forming a closer bond as they get through situations not most people would be able to handle.

In Chucky, the antagonist is a haunted doll named Chucky, he tries to constantly murder his "owners" multiple times, and some died but there would always be someone who survived in the end. I always admired how the creators made the plot of Chucky so interesting, I wish to make a film as good as this, but I'm just a beginner so  I'll try my best with the help of my group members. :)

In my film, I want the characters' style to be very diverse, as well as ethnic. And, the theme to be something that is a life learning lesson. For example, something like always be nice to others cause you don't know what they can be going through, or when in need ask for help and don't bottle everything up, or life will always get better once the storm passes. :) As for characters, I want them to have different backgrounds, different life problems but somewhat the same, genders would be random, sexual orientation random as well. I won't go too in-depth cause I don't want to give away too much.

Middle-class groups are represented in a nice house in a nice neighborhood, they wouldn't be poor but they wouldn't have large sums of money to spend. Kids would go to a normal high school, have a couple of friends, have a part-time job. Poor people would live in a run-down apartment or neighborhood, they would go to a shabby high school, always be trying to work. The way black women are stereotyped with weaves, hoop earrings, acrylics, etc. White women have either straight hair or wavy hair, colored natural nails, etc. The white person is always the one going exploring. Black people always die first or runs away.

Opening sequences in other films of the horror genre look dark, there is screaming, blood, loud suspenseful music, the looks on characters are frightened, and other things that contribute to the scary mood. The opening sequence gives the overall idea of what the whole movie is going to be about and the feeling you're going to have when watching it, but it's all comprised into 2 minutes so it doesn't give away lots of details that later pertain to the plot or what is going to happen. Not a lot of action actually happens in the first 2 minutes of a film. The first 2 minutes of a film is basically like the introduction into the character's lives, and/or the groundbreaking event that led to whatever is going to go down later on in the movie.

(I'm unable to do the last part due to some circumstances regarding my computer)

Some settings or locations of other films of my genre are a school, a house, outside in the woods, a basement, a subway or train, random abandoned places, etc. They are often shot in a home during the night, and some in the afternoon.

Blog Post 1/13!~

Hello, I will be answering 2 questions related to my film project.

The intended audience for my film is people who like horror movies revolving around a doll because my film genre is horror so I would like my audience to like the genre so they would enjoy the movie. Their moviegoing habits would be to get some popcorn or snack to eat whilst watching it, pee before starting the movie, and turning off all the lights to have a dark room, as well as, turning the volume all the way up. The way to get people to view my movie is to have a good opening sequence and a title that hooks or piques the interest of a viewer.

For example, Annabelle had a hooking title and opening sequence that got a lot of viewers attentions. And the type of audience the film has is a bunch of horror movie lovers.

The titles in horror films are normally big bolded text. Fonts vary, but the ones I've seen has like blood dripping off the words, or just vintage looking to make it that makes the overall cover of the movie more scary or creepier. The kind of information I need to include in my title is a shortened main idea of what the film is going to be about. As well as, giving away as much about the film but making it short enough to hook in a lot of viewers.

For example, in the Haunting of Bly Manor had a perfect title, it gave the overall main idea of what the movie was about but in a very short way. The font worked with what the cover was giving off a creepy vibe which is what hooked me into watching it!

Three Questions Entry!~

Hello again! I will be answering three questions in this post, I hope someone can learn from them. :)

The purpose of opening credits is to enlighten your viewers on which studio or production company took part in the making of the film. And opening credits also show the main actors/stars in the cast. For example, in Sweet Home, the opening credits/intro stated all the production companies and people, and what the show was based on/originated, producers, photographers, designers, sound mixers, editors, music directors, etc, overall everyone that were involved in the making of the show Sweet Home.

The difference between opening credits and a title sequence is, opening credits are the names of the cast, crew, producers, studios, and many more. Which are all showed on-screen, or over a background that isn't moving. But, a title sequence is a part of the film's intro that is solely for crediting the cast, crew and showing a title card.

A good technique that can be employed in an opening sequence is freeze-framing, and using an ink illustration with ink bleeding effects like in Sherlock Holmes- DannyYount/Prologue. Another one could be a layer of anime-styled drawings with effects and color schemes.

Introduction Entry!~

Over the past couple of days, I have been viewing some blog samples for reference to better improve my own. As well as, researching specific things that are going to go with my genre for my film.

As I've been looking at them, I started to think about how I will start my own without making my journey sound too similar.

I noticed people tend to begin making a film by coming up with the overall meaning of the story first. So, I have been looking at openings gravitating towards the genre that I want, which is horror. As well as horror genre titles, that look cool and interesting enough to gain other's attention.

For the posting of my blog entries, I plan on getting straight to the point so when other people are reading it they don't get bored, and I hope they can get some type of inspiration from my journey if they are planning to do something like this. To differentiate from which type of entries I made for my blog, I'm going to make each one a different color theme. Which is also a way to make it a bit more fun and pleasing to the eyes. Every time I write about a new thought or subject it will be separated from the other technical things that will be applying to my project.

I will continue to watch horror opening scenes, looking at titles, researching the different techniques I can do to create the meaning I want to convey to my audience, and reading more and more blog entries to gain somewhat reference and inspiration.

I am excited about this new journey that I am going through because I have never done a blog before. And I hope anyone who reads this is going to stay to watch as a grow and gain more knowledge about Media Studies!
