I will be answering 5 questions today~ Please enjoy, and I hope you learn from this or correct me on my mistakes so I can learn from them. :)
The kind of movie I want to make is a horror film. I want the film to center around a haunted doll and 3 friends who attend high school, going through problems and scary incidents together and forming a closer bond as they get through situations not most people would be able to handle.
In Chucky, the antagonist is a haunted doll named Chucky, he tries to constantly murder his "owners" multiple times, and some died but there would always be someone who survived in the end. I always admired how the creators made the plot of Chucky so interesting, I wish to make a film as good as this, but I'm just a beginner so I'll try my best with the help of my group members. :)
In my film, I want the characters' style to be very diverse, as well as ethnic. And, the theme to be something that is a life learning lesson. For example, something like always be nice to others cause you don't know what they can be going through, or when in need ask for help and don't bottle everything up, or life will always get better once the storm passes. :) As for characters, I want them to have different backgrounds, different life problems but somewhat the same, genders would be random, sexual orientation random as well. I won't go too in-depth cause I don't want to give away too much.
Middle-class groups are represented in a nice house in a nice neighborhood, they wouldn't be poor but they wouldn't have large sums of money to spend. Kids would go to a normal high school, have a couple of friends, have a part-time job. Poor people would live in a run-down apartment or neighborhood, they would go to a shabby high school, always be trying to work. The way black women are stereotyped with weaves, hoop earrings, acrylics, etc. White women have either straight hair or wavy hair, colored natural nails, etc. The white person is always the one going exploring. Black people always die first or runs away.
Opening sequences in other films of the horror genre look dark, there is screaming, blood, loud suspenseful music, the looks on characters are frightened, and other things that contribute to the scary mood. The opening sequence gives the overall idea of what the whole movie is going to be about and the feeling you're going to have when watching it, but it's all comprised into 2 minutes so it doesn't give away lots of details that later pertain to the plot or what is going to happen. Not a lot of action actually happens in the first 2 minutes of a film. The first 2 minutes of a film is basically like the introduction into the character's lives, and/or the groundbreaking event that led to whatever is going to go down later on in the movie.
(I'm unable to do the last part due to some circumstances regarding my computer)
Some settings or locations of other films of my genre are a school, a house, outside in the woods, a basement, a subway or train, random abandoned places, etc. They are often shot in a home during the night, and some in the afternoon.
